8TH GRADE CLASS FUNDRAISER, December 8th & 12th

Please support our 8th grade students as they work to raise money toward a class gift directed to sharing parish Imaculee Conception in Galette Chambon, Haiti. Money raised through their efforts will allow the parish to relocate the grist mill, a past SFX 8th grade class gift that is a primary source of income for the community, to inside the newly constructed school walls where it may be operated safely. 8th graders will offer two opportunities to support this cause: Haitian Christmas ornaments will be sold after masses in SFX Church on Sunday, December 8th and a bake sale will be held at 3:10pm dismissal on December 12th on the school plaza. Questions may be directed to leslie.scattone@gmail.com.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPE, December 12th-13th at St. Francis Xavier School (Register by December 10th)

SFX invites students in grades K-8 to “shop” for modestly priced gifts for family members at the Christmas Shoppe on December 12th and 13th. Register your students by December 10th through the link below indicating the number of gifts/family members they will shop for, and then visit the school store to pay for the total due to the Shoppe. Gifts are wrapped by HSO volunteers and will be ready to place under the tree! Contact jacpacouri@yahoo.com, ginaehlman23@hotmail.com or lnicklin@me.com for more information or to volunteer.

FACULTY & STAFF CHRISTMAS GIFT, Donations accepted through December 13th

Every year school parents are invited to donate toward a faculty Christmas bonus. This cash gift is distributed equally to all teachers and staff and provides an excellent opportunity to share holiday joy with all of the specials teachers, custodians, office staff and others who make a difference in your child’s life. This is an optional “gift” opportunity and donations are accepted in the school office through December 13th. Contact megan.g.horton@gmail.com with questions.

WAKE UP SANTA!, December 14th from 8-10am in the St. Joseph School Cafeteria

Come dressed in your pajamas and enjoy a pancake breakfast with Santa at St. Joseph School! Christmas crafts and photos with Santa are included. Parents and students in 8th grade and up are needed! If you are able to volunteer, please contact Dana McKenna in the Saints Joseph and Francis Xavier parish office at 847/251-3734 or dmckenna@ssjfx.org.

BLESSING OF NATIVITY INFANTS, December 14th and 15th

According to tradition, Roman children bring their “infants” (statues of Baby Jesus) to St. Peter’s Square this third Sunday of Advent to be blessed by the Pope before being placed in their home nativity scenes. School families are invited to bring their statues of Baby Jesus to Mass for a special blessing before placing them in your nativity scene at home. Blessing of Nativity infants happens Saturday, December 14th at 5pm Mass at both St. Joseph and St. Francis Xavier, and again on Sunday, December 15th at 9:30am at St. Francis Xavier, and at 8am & 10:30am at St. Joseph.

FOLLOW THE STAR, December 20th at 12pm on the SFX School Plaza

A favorite SFX tradition for decades, Follow the Star invites the entire school community, escorted by the Wilmette Police Department, as we journey through the neighborhood surrounding our school campus in search of the Christ Child. Students travel with teachers while families, alumni, parishioners and friends follow singing carolls, listening to readings, and marveling at the discovery of Baby Jesus hidden away in a manger (otherwise known as an SFX family’s garage). Join us as we Follow the Star together and rediscover the magic of Christmas! Meet on the plaza to await the Magi beginning at 12pm. Contact office@sfx-school.org with questions.
