We enjoyed some beautiful weather this week by playing outside and having science class outside!
Literacy: The students participated in small guided reading groups, completed word work with worksheets and Savvas Realize. They completed the Lucy Calkins Unit of Study on opinion writing.
Religion: The students have participated in discussions at a very deep, thoughtful way. They understand symbolism as we discussed the virtues of love, faith, and hope. They learned about Jesus’ Ascension and Pentecost. The class is participating in making a prayer chain to add to others made by the whole school.
Math: The students completed our unit on nonstandard measurement. They really enjoyed all of the hands-on measuring! They also measured with rulers to the nearest inch. The students completed a measurement assessment. Then they were dubbed, “Rulers of the Ruler!”
Science: The students are excited with the new study on water! Water is life. We began the unit by thinking about water in our lives and around the world. We read bible verses about water and thought about water at baptism. Then the students listed some properties of water. They played a “properties of” game by spying an item and listing its properties while students figured out what it was. They did some pouring and thinking about properties of water outside.
