They week included some fun activities! The students loved the comfy PJ day with show and tell. Some students even coordinated their show and tell and their PJ’s! Jahkil Jackson had the students rapt attention during our guest speaker Zoom.
Religion: The students completed chapter 22 in the Religion book, Jesus is with Us in His Church. The students honored Mary and reverently watched the May Crowning Mass virtually. They wrote letters of appreciation to all of their special’s teachers. The teachers were grateful for the thanks and gratitude. The guest speaker, Jahkil Jackson, wrote the book, I AM. He is a dynamic, caring speaker who encouraged the students to help each other now. You don’t have to wait to help and be kind. He makes blessing bags for the homeless. Thank you if your family added blessing bags to this important project!
Math: The students started our new chapter on graphs. They will be learning tally charts, bar graphs, and pictographs.
Literacy: The students met in small reading groups and completed word work. They are devouring their chapter books and look forward to time to read! Their focus is on character, setting, and problem and solution. The students wrote in their journals, letters of appreciation, and special surprise writing.
Science: The students are learning properties of water. They are thinking in complex ways and describing thoughtful metaphors for the science concepts. This week the students concentrated on adhesion and cohesion. They completed two hands-on experiments. They looked at how water is absorbed into a paper towel and celery. They put drops of water on wax paper with a pipette to experiment with putting water drops together and taking them apart.
