Tuesday, October 15--The class is leading the Mass. I hope you all can join us!
Monday, October 28--Field Trip to the Adler Planetarium. If you have not already done so, please turn in the permission slip and $12 by Wednesday, October 16
The students are working to “unfreeze” the characters in their writing. They are going back to stories that wrote and adding more to the story by have the character move and talk.
The students prepared for leading the Mass by practicing the songs and discussing what leading the Mass is truly about.
SFX supported our sharing parish in Haiti by wearing pink and raising funds. If your child forgot the $1 and your child dressed down, please feel free to send it this week.
The students brought home chapter 6 in our text–God Speaks to Us.
This week the students worked on addition facts by adding using number bonds and counting on.
The students began the Moon science unit this week. They were introduced to information about the Moon and drew the night and day skies. For some, it was surprising that the Moon might be observed in the day as well as the night depending on Moon rise and Moon set.
Thank you for encouraging your child to complete the Moon journal. Feel free to go online whenever the Moon is not visible. The students are reminded at the end of each day to pack up their black home folder, but it is their responsibility to ensure that it is in their backpack. I hope that you and your child are enjoying viewing the Moon together!
Fire Safety Presentation:
Thanks to the Wilmette Fire Department for presenting an important message for our students. One important safety fact–they said smoke detectors should be replaced about every 10 years. Mrs. O’Keefe bravely donned the very heavy gear! Please discuss safety with your children as they had a lot of questions.
Thank you, Mystery Reader!
