We are happy to share that our RED campaign for the 2018-2019 school year will feature the theme “We are Changemakers.” The Respect Each Difference (RED) campaign, now in its 4th year, serves to help our students understand that our differences are to be celebrated and not judged.
On Tuesday, December 18th, Erin Marie Nolan-Tella (pen name Erma Note and SFX’94) returns to Wilmette from her home in Mexico and will speak with our students about her life’s journey. God’s plan for her took her from Wilmette to Mexico City where she volunteered as a teacher at an orphanage, and where she now lives and works as a mother and author. Her children’s book “Travels with Grace” is the story of a bicultural girl living in Mexico City. Speaking of what originally led her to travel to Mexico, Nolan said, “I was taught from a young age to give back. I always enjoyed doing service work through the Catholic Church, and I felt God calling me to work with the children of Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos orphanage in Mexico. God has such an interesting and mysterious way of creating our path through life, and He definitely led me to the children of NPH, which ultimately led me to meeting my husband and creating our family.”
Mrs. Nolan-Tella will be giving two presentations that afternoon for grades K-4 and will show our students how God lead her on a journey to be a changemaker. Since her book is distributed through a small publisher, we aren’t able to partner with the Book Stall to offer our families copies of her book. Books can be ordered, however, from Amazon and Barnes and Noble and students are invited to bring them to school on December 18th to have them signed.
