This weeks Gospel shows that Jesus is more interested in us growing more loving instead of who is to blame. Our Promise issue explored children’s feelings about what is fair and what is unfair. Children learned that Jesus doesn’t blame. and we shouldn’t blame or tease each other. Jesus wants us to forgive, not blame. Jesus forgives us as we forgive. We prayed. “Jesus, help me to do what is right, Amen.” Children read the story of Joseph and his brothers in their Bibles. We prayed with the SFX school community at Mass and the Stations of the Cross.
Children created an Easter Bunny using a glyph and wrote a story about their Easter Bunny. Words Their Way Word Work , sight word practice along with unscrambling sentences and Handwriting practice continued. Opportunities for independent reading are offered daily. First graders continue to take School Library books home for a week to read to their family. The books are to be carried back and forth in a plastic bag.
Our objectives this week were to estimate quantity by using 10 as a benchmark, comparing numbers using greater than and less than, and comparing numbers using <,>, and =. We continued Rocket Math and IPAD practice.
INVESTIGATING WATER our next science unit. Students will read, learn and observe Our objectives this week were: to learn the rules for working with water, use our senses to explore the properties of water, and to describe some properties of water. The students used a pipet to make water drops, they described the shape of water drops, and discovered that water drops tend to stick together. The students made hydraulic elevators in the Tech Room with syringes, tubes and water. Our class recorded last week changing weather.
First Graders went on a virtual Field Trip to Madagascar. We visited with Katie, she works for Catholic Relief Services. Katie taught English to children and she is helping farmers reforest their farms for the future.
