Learning objectives this week began by introducing the children to the Church as a community of baptized people. This guides them to experience a sense of belonging and to appreciate the holiness of the Church. Children heard the story of how Jesus chose Peter to lead the Church and that the Holy Father, our pope Francis, leads and serves the people of God as Jesus’ visible representative on earth.
We continued guided writing skills. Nouns are words that name a person, place, and thing. Children learned about the usage of common nouns, proper nouns and pronouns. Words Their Way Word Work, sight word practice and handwriting continued. Opportunities for independent reading are offered daily
Our objective this week was to learn about addition facts through 12. We have reviewed related facts, parts and whole, fact families, and using a number line.
Our objective this week was for the children to complete their Animal Research Book. The children researched their animals appearance, diet, habitat, family, and interesting facts. Children wrote a “sloppy copy” and then re-wrote their reports. REMINDER: Animal habitat dioramas are due Tuesday, June 4.
FIELD DAY IS WEDNESDAY JUNE 5! CHILDREN ARE INVITED TO DRESS DOWN AND WEAR THEIR COMMUNITY COLORS.
