Last Sunday’s gospel contains what we have come to know as the Golden Rule; Treat others the way you want to be treated. Jesus asks us to love our enemies and do good for them. We prayed that God will help us make loving and kind choices even when we don’t feel loving and kind.
Our class read and wrote about penguins. The children choose a type of penguin to research and gather information to complete a graphic organizer. Students put their Word Detective skills in practice as they conducted their research. Independent and partner reading is a daily staple in our classroom. Words Their Way Word Work, sight word , and handwriting practice continue.
The objective this week was to develop and use math vocabulary relating to fractions. Identify, name, and represent 1/2, 1/3, and 1.4 of a region and of a set.
First Grade classes were invited to the new MAKER SPACE to create their own penguin. A wide variety of materials were available and the children let their imaginations run wild. Lots of fun and creativity!!
