We learned from the Parable of the Prodigal Son that God is our forgiving Father. Saying the words “I am sorry” is practicing forgiveness.. The children recognize the need to forgive and be forgiven. We attended the all-school Mass and prayed the Stations of the Cross with the SFX school community. First Graders had a unique opportunity to put their Faith in Action with a Field Trip to Cradles to Crayons. Thank you to our chaperones who helped the children sort toys and books. Thank you to the families who donated socks, toys, and books.
Students wrote another realistic fiction story using Spring Break for their subject. Another opinion piece was completed. First Graders brought home a SFX Library book to read with their families. The Library book should be returned to school on Friday, our usual Library day. Words Their Way Word Work, sight word and handwriting practice. continued. Opportunities for independent reading are included in our school days.
We started Chapter 11. Our objectives this week were to develop and use math vocabulary relating to ordering and comparing numbers and to order and compare numbers through 100 using words and symbols. Extra practice with the IPADS and Rocket Math continued.
