Students read about Jesus going to the synagogue in his hometown of Nazareth. There he reads from the writings of the prophet Isaiah. “The spirit of the Lord is upon me;God has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor.” Jesus then announces that his Scripture is fulfilled in him, Jesus not only tells Good News, but IS the Good News. PROMISE presents Jesus as a real human being who like us, lived in a real neighborhood, The children recognized that Jesus is like us and we thank God for our own neighborhoods. First Graders took their promise issues home to complete with their families.
We continued working towards our Word Detective badges during our short week. We looked out for vowel teams which overlaps with our WorD Work learning about long and short vowels. The teams were ai, oo, ee, ou, oa, and ea.
Reviewing shapes by making and completing books: can they roll, slide, and stack, how many faces, edges and vertices, and finding shapes around our classroom and drawing and labeling the shapes. Children completed their Penguin Glyph Graph and answered question using the graph .
Students learned that most penguins live in the Southern Hemisphere, they created a world map and made a pocket for their penguin
An abbreviated week because of the Polar Vortex we concluded with an All School Mass and enjoying the Talent Show in our new beautiful gym.
