Poppin’ Into Summer
The countdown till summer is on! Everyday when students enter we “POP” a balloon to figure out our student of the day. Being student of the day comes with great privileges, including line leader, no shoes in the classroom, choice of sitting on a wobble stool or at the green table and one piece of Double Bubble gum to chew during one period of the day.
Field trip to Wilmette Historical Museum
What an amazing trip this past Thursday to the Wilmette History Museum, the weather was PERFECT! We learned a ton, including all about the bricks you see paving the streets of east WIlmette. We also had the opportunity to see a slideshow of photos from Wilmette’s past. The photo the students found the most interesting was a photo of a one room schoolhouse from Wilmette (it reminded them of our trip to The Grove). But, the most fun and exciting event, was being locked up in the jail cell in the basement, one of Wilmette’s original jail cells.
Walking Tour of East Wilmette Trip
This Friday, May 31st we will be taking a walking tour of east WIlmette to see and discuss many of the historical sites we have been learning about in class. Please make sure to wear your SFX uniform, good walking shoes, and dress for the weather. If it rains on the date of the trip, we will cancel and do the walking tour from our classroom on Google Maps.
EPIC
This week the third graders wrote a book entitled, Quick Maths. This book was an ABC book of the math vocabulary we have learned and used over the past school year.
Rainbow Countdown
On Tuesday your child will be bringing home our “Rainbow Countdown” that will begin on Monday, June 3rd. Please place this paper someplace special so that your 3rd grader is prepared for everyday of fun filled activities. Some activities require your child to bring in an item from home. For a quick peek into the activities, check out the “Dates” section below.
Class Picnic
Our class picnic at Gilson Park has been set for Thursday, June 6th. We will leave SFX at 10 a.m. and walk to the park. Students may dress for the weather, this is a non-uniform day for us! We are asking that each child bring a bag that they can carry to hold their sack lunch, a full water bottle, a towel (to sit on, if they’d like), and sunscreen. Please check out the link our Room Moms sent to see if you can help support us on this fun day! Please note, if it rains we will cancel and spend a fun day in our classrooms.
Keep Your Eyes OPEN
Several papers are coming home on Tuesday. Please keep your eyes open for the Rainbow Countdown (on colorful paper), class movie permission slip (white paper), and the class picnic permission slip (green paper). Be sure to sign and return the permission slips as soon as possible. The Six Flags tickets were sent home this past week with any child that completed the 600 minutes of reading challenge. Hopefully they have already made it safely into your hands.
Rosary
We will be praying the Rosary together as a class, one last time, this Thursday. Your child is welcome to bring a Rosary from home to pray with during this special time.
Desk and Locker Clean Out
We will be cleaning out our desks and lockers on Monday, June 10th. Please send your child to school with a bag that they can bring home all the “treasures” we will find during clean out.
