Back to School Night
We look forward to meeting everyone next Thursday, September 19th in our classrooms. We will have a brief presentation in which we will introduce ourselves and tell a little about our classroom and daily routines. Hope to see you then!
All of our students have had a chance to try out a band instrument or two! As a whole, they are showing great excitement about the opportunity to be a part of the band. We can’t wait to see who all becomes the next great generation of musicians!
Just a friendly reminder that a sweater should be worn over polos on Mass days. If it is hot on Mass day, we will allow students to take off vest in the classrooms and during recess.
Throughout the year students will bring home Scholastic Book Orders. Ordering books is a family decision and nothing is expected, although all orders do help us earn new books for our classrooms. All orders should be placed online using the teacher code attached to the book order. Books will be delivered to SFX and sent home with your child once they arrive. If you would like your order to be kept a surprise, just email us and we can arrange a special pick-up.
Absence Make-Up Work
If your child is absent we will send home any missing classwork. Our expectation is that work should be completed at home and returned within a timely manner (1 “extra” day for each day of absence). If you know your child is going to be out in advance, your third grade teacher will try to prepare as much of the missing work before the absence. Although, your child may have some more work once they return. As always, feel free to email us about any unusual circumstances.
Planners & Sidekicks
Planners and sidekicks should be traveling back and forth from school and home everyday. This is to help your child stay organized as well as work on responsibility. Your child has time during class everyday to fill out their planner with the daily assignments and any upcoming test/events. The expectation is that it will be signed nightly by an adult to assure you are aware of all homework, tests, and events.
The sidekick has three folders, a pink one, a yellow one and black one. The pink (Class Work) and yellow folder (Spanish) should never be emptied at home, these two folders contain ongoing classwork and notes that are needed back in class. The black folder has a side for homework and other items that need attention and should be returned the next day. The other pocket in the black folder is full of papers that should be emptied daily and kept at home (graded classwork, flyers..). At school we have been working hard on setting up this system and trying to help your child become more organized and independent.
Please be sure to check your child’s planner for any important test dates. Each class will record upcoming math, science, and social studies test dates within each homeroom’s planners.
