In Math, we are nearing the end of Chapter 1 in which we studied: place value, comparing and ordering numbers, adding and subtracting multi-digit numbers, rounding, and estimating. These familiar topics were presented in some new and engaging ways as we dove into our new math curriculum: Math in Focus. We will review these topics on Monday and Tuesday, and we will have our first Math Test on Wednesday, September 25th.
In Social Studies, we have been studying the Northeastern Region of the United States. We have learned about the unique geography, economy, and resources of this region. I hope your student has told you about the song we use to help us as we are learning the states of this region! Check it out HERE. We will have our Northeast Region Test on Thursday, September 26th.
In Literacy, our class has been working hard to increase our independent reading stamina. We have also been letting our creative juices flow in our writing journals by exploring Narrative Writings. We completed a read aloud by Dan Gutman from the humorous series, “My Weird School”, and we are currently reading “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing” by Judy Blume. We will soon be forming smaller groups for spelling and reading. Finally, in Grammar we just finished learning about the many, many uses of commas.
In Religion, we have learned about how God reveals himself to us through the Holy Trinity and through Sacred Scripture. We have also talked about our theme “Angels Among Us” by talking about our Guardian Angel and practicing the Guardian Angel Prayer.
Have a blessed week ahead! – Mrs. Gonzalez
