We will continue Chapter 3: Fractions and Mixed Numbers. This week we will be working on Adding and Subtracting Like Fractions and working with Mixed Numbers. Students should still be working on Basic multiplication and division facts at home every night. This is very important as it is a very necessary component of working with fractions.
This week we will wrap up our study of the Southeastern Region of the United States. We will have in class reviews on Wednesday and Thursday. The Chapter 6 Test will be on Friday, 11/15. Students will bring home their Social Studies book every night this week to re-read each of the four lessons in the chapter. This will count as their reading for the night. Also, students will have vocabulary flash cards and a companion study packet to help them prepare for the test. The tests require a strong knowledge of the chapter and careful close reading of the questions.
We have been working hard! We are settled into Words Their Way, Small Reading Groups, Whole Group Reading, Writing Narratives, and Grammar. Whew!!! This week I checked out some audio books from my local library ,and the students have loved this! Don’t be surprised if they as you to go to the library to check out some of their own!
We will continue to move into Unit 2 of our book. We will focus on Jesus’ teachings, how to locate and read scripture in our Bibles, and strengthening our relationship with God through prayer. This week, students learned that God does not want us to grumble: Philippians 2:14 “Do everything without grumbling or arguing so that you may become blameless and pure children of God.”
Have a great weekend!
