Happy New Year 4S Families!
Tuesday 1.15.19 – 4S Math Test
Check out our new math blog: 4th Grade Math Update
We have finished our first section of Science learning about our Solar System! All students did very well with our in-class experiments and we have learned so much about our different planets. The Science test was given yesterday and will be coming home next week once all students have taken the test. Your students’ Science Binders have been scored and entered. Great Job kiddos!
We started our unit on the Northeast today! We will continue learning about the Beautiful Northeast, the People of the Northeast, Resources of the Northeast, the Plentiful Sea, and more as we work our way across the nation!
We continue to embrace the challenges that come with Nonfiction Reading. Students are learning what to do if the book they are reading stops making sense to them along with figuring out the test’s structure then use it to determine the important parts. In addition, we are reading various “hybrids” – texts that are made of a collage of different parts. This will help students realize that when texts are a a collection of different parts, each with a different text structure, it is important to use different lenses when reading. This can be very challenging! Please have your student read at-least 30 minutes per evening.
After given the choice of a favorite person, place, or object, all students have chosen one for their upcoming thesis statements and essays. We are about to publish! In addition, grammar is introduced on Mondays with a quiz each Friday. WTW assignments are given each Monday and must be completed and turned in by Friday. All work is in-class work only and can impact their grade positively if all work is turned in on time with completion accuracy.
We continue to discuss how we can be a shining light in the world, by showing kindness. I appreciate your support in this!
Enjoy your weekend!
