We’ve had a wonderful week learning about families!
Important Dates and Reminders
Monday, November 25th and Tuesday, November 26th are reserved for Parent Teacher Conferences. All JK students will dismiss at 11am at the West Doors. There is no Lunch Bunch or Enrichment on these days. Watch the school newsblast for sign-up details for conferences.
Please send children to school with hats, mittens/gloves, boots and warm coats. Please label all items so we can help students keep track of their things. Don’t forget to pack shoes in the backpacks. Thank you!
SFX Fun Run
Thank you again for supporting our school through the SFX Glow Run! As we work towards earning pledges to help our school we are also earning some awesome class rewards. If you’re looking for the easiest way to ask for a pledge, just upload a photo of your student to funrun.com to create a personalized “Student Star Video.” This fun, hilarious video starring your child can be shared by email or social media to connect with sponsors to ask for a pledge. Thank you again for helping our class!
P.S. – If you haven’t registered your child on funrun.com, search for our school by typing in “SFX” or use our school registration code: 434597.
Theme of the Week and Activities
At our Craft Center, we painted frames for our dream catchers which we will work on for another week. This project is fun and promotes fine motor skills as we thread yarn and beads and add feathers to our frames. They will be finished and ready to hang up at home by Thanksgiving.
At our Literacy Center, we worked on November self portraits. We read several stories about families, our favorites were: “When Jesus Was a Little Boy,” by Margi McCombs and illustrated by Janet Samuel, and “The Family Book,” by Todd Parr.
At our Math Center, we learned the number “2”. We counted pairs of many objects. We practiced writing the number 2 in our workbooks.
At our Writing Center, we learned the letter “H. We made a long list of words that begin with “H.” We practiced writing on chalkboards and in our workbooks.
At our Sensory Center, we worked with play dough and thera putty.
In Religion, we learned about kindness and read a story about how families show kindness to one another. We shared our own stories of how we help out and show kindness at home.
Social Emotional Learning
We learned that people can have the same or different feelings about the same thing. We are beginning to learn to see things from perspectives other than our own. This is a very important social emotional skill that we will continue to work on throughout the year in JK!
We had a fun week learning about our school fundraiser, the SFX Fun Run. We danced and sang at a pep rally in the gym on Monday.
We ran, jumped, climbed, skipped and played ball outside on the field and on the tot-lot. We danced and sang in Music with Mrs. Chada.
