Theme of the Week and Activities
At our Craft Center, we made apple prints. Using red, green and yellow paint and real apples. We had a blast painting and stamping.
At our Math Center, we made patterns with green and red apples. We are learning to recognize patterns and to anticipate what will come next. We also rolled dice and counted “apple seeds” into muffin tins.
At our Science Center, we had an apple tasting. We tasted Red Delicious, Golden Delicious and Granny Smith apples. We talked about how each tasted and them made a graph to show which variety was most popular in our class. Golden Delicious was the winner in our class!
At our Writing Center, we learned the correct crayon grip to use when writing and practiced our skills by coloring pages in our JK workbooks.
At our Literacy Center, we read some fun and interesting stories. Our favorites were: “Two Terrible Frights” by Jim Aylesworth, “Seed by Seed” by Esme Raji Codell, Illustrated by Lynne Rae Perkins, and “The Scarecrow” by Beth Ferry, Illustrated by The Fan Brothers. Along with these wonderful books, we welcomed three mystery readers: Linda Sawyer (our librarian), Colleen Barrett (our Principal), and Daniella Watkins.
At our Sensory Center, we worked with thera putty and we rolled, molded, and squeezed play dough.
At our Dramatic Play Center, we had one more week pretending in our Farmer’s Market. We ordered, bagged and delivered many fruits and veggies.
In Religion, we continue to practice the Sign of the Cross and have learned the Hail Mary. We continue to read our Children’s Bible.
We ran and explored on the field. We are including each other in games and learning to try new things. We climbed and played on the Tot-Lot.
We sang and danced in Music with Mrs Chada.
