Dear Parents,
This has been a fun week wrapping up our community helpers unit! The children even met a real nurse! On Thursday Maggie Fahrenbach came in and taught us how babies are taken care of in the hospital nursery. The children really loved it!
Important Dates and Reminders
Monday October 14th: No School, Columbus Day
Please remember we have a group of 8th grade girls who can walk JK students to class every morning if you would like to use the drop off line. Sometimes walking to class can be overwhelming and we hope this plan is helpful!
As the season is changing please remember to send children with the appropriate attire. We really want the children to enjoy outside play unless it is raining. Don’t forget to label all clothing items!
Theme of the Week and Activities:
Craft Center: We made Firefighters with our hands.
Literacy Center: We wrote a class book “If I were a Community Helper”
Math Center: We worked on counting and counted beans and rolled the dice and counted the dots.
Sensory Center: We used thera putty and playdough to strengthen our fine motor muscles.
Dramatic Center: We had a construction site. We built towers, hammered, and sawed away. We even had coffee breaks!
Writing Center: We introduced the children to “big line” “little line” “big curve” little curve”. We will be using these tools all year to write capital letters! This week we learned how to write “L.”
Social Emotional: We are still working on asking for what we want/need. The children are learning to ask for what they need/want by making eye contact and using a strong and respectful voice.
Gross Motor: We continue to enjoy the field and tot lot for running, jumping, and playing!
