A Week in Review:
The students are practicing noticing details in the pictures of the books they are reading. This helps them to decode words as their books become increasingly challenging.
Everyone is an expert on something and the children are enjoying sharing their “how to” knowledge with others in their writing! They have had fun choosing their topics and writing steps for doing many different things. Some interesting topics have been: How to make sandals out of paper, draw a butterfly, feed a dog, make an underwater tornado, do your hair, draw a rainbow.
As you know from a previous email, our class leprechauns are on the loose! The children are having so much fun hearing about his escapades. Next week, our “How To” book topic will be “How to trap a leprechaun”! And our STEM activity will be making traps! We can’t wait to see what the children will design.
We have now covered most of the math topics in our curriculum, including patterns, one-to-one correspondence, counting by 1’s and 10’s, basic shapes, comparing numbers, simple addition and subtraction, simple word problems, We continue to practice constructing and deconstruction numbers through 20 in a variety of activities and will be doing more measurement and estimation in the coming weeks. Please don’t forget to have your child use IXL to practice these important math skills!
Thanks and have a great weekend!
