A Week in Review:
We have been busy preparing for the Christmas show and are so excited to share our performance with you! We have been working hard to wrap up all of our curricular units before Christmas Break. We completed our second writing unit by using all of our new strategies to write true stories about our lives. We created books about vacations, Elves, birthday parties and more. We were diligent to include sentences, labels, detailed drawings and speech bubbles on every page all while acting as brave spellers! As our super reader unit came to a close, the introduction of “persistence power,” and “book talk power,” helped us to increase our reading stamina and confidence! We look forward to launching small guided reading groups come January. Here, our kiddos will meet in small groups with the teacher for differentiated reading instruction to support continued reading development. We continue to work hard on our measurement and number pair knowledge with our hands-on math centers. A fan favorite game during math centers is called “Top It,” (AKA “war) which is an easy game to play with your kiddos at home!
We look forward to a week full of Christmas-related curricular extensions!
Please note we will go outside every day unless the temperature is below 0, or if it is raining or snowing heavily. Children should bring winter gear with them every day.
Please send a snack with your child that will help them to maintain a healthy energy level for the afternoon. Candy and sugary treats should be reconsidered.
