Many of our 4th-5th grade students have been furiously reading in preparation for the Battle of the Books. In the next week, 4th-5th grade students will be placed in teams with their classmates and the week of February 25 they will be competing in qualifying battles taking place in the library. There are two rounds for each battle. During the first round students work with their team to earn points. In the second round, students work individually to earn points. At the end of the two rounds, each student receives a score that is a combination of the score their team earned and their individual score.
A total of 12 4th-5th grade students will make up our final team. The twelve students that earn the highest total scores will be invited to comprise the SFX team that will compete for the Battle of the Books trophy against Roycemore, Chiaravalle, and St. Joseph schools. This multi-school competition is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19 at St. Francis and is scheduled to begin at 4pm.
When the in-school battles are completed by the end of that week, I will reach out to the parents of the children eligible to be on the SFX team with more information. Please let me know if you have any questions.
