Welcome to Saints JFX!
Whether you join us this fall on our Early Childhood campus at St. Joseph School, or on our Elementary and Middle School campus at St. Francis Xavier School, we are one united Saints JFX family and we can’t wait to welcome you and your children into our vibrant learning community! Please share any questions you may have with Jackie Petrozzi at firstname.lastname@example.org.
CONNECTING YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY
This summer, our team is happy to connect you to classmates in two ways:
MENTORS are assigned to all new families. In Preschool and Kindergarten, new families are introduced to a “group mentor” by grade who is available to answer questions and help set up play dates and other opportunities to engage as a group. In grades 1-8, 1:1 mentors are assigned to new families. If you have not yet heard from your mentor, please contact email@example.com. If you have just joined our community, watch for a note about this soon!
ROOM PARENTS assigned during the 2020-2021 school year share your contact information with your child’s class. Our families work hard to include new students in any email messages, gatherings or other opportunities to connect over the summer months.
BACK TO SCHOOL BASH
Save the date for Saturday, August 28th when we invite school parents to join us for 5pm Mass in St. Joseph Church followed by “welcoming” remarks from school leadership. The Back to School Bash, a ticketed/21+ event will follow in the St. Joseph parking lot featuring food trucks, live music and an evening of conversation. Watch for information regarding ticket sales closer to the event… in the meantime, please save the date!
2021-2022 KEY DATES
As we look ahead to the fall, please make note of two resources for your calendar at home. This Key Dates overview, featuring confirmed dates shared previously this year, outlines academic dates including days off of school next year. This HSO Tentative Dates overview shares dates the HSO is holding for many anticipated events. Please note that dates shared by HSO are subject to change this summer. We look forward to a year of reconnecting as a community beginning August 25th! Be sure to download a copy of this Orientation Schedule that features dates for new parent meetings, welcome opportunities, and a phase in schedule for our preschool students over the first three days of school (August 25-27).
The Uniform Closet is a parent volunteer group that collects gently used K-8 uniform items children have outgrown so that other families may use them instead of purchasing new uniform pieces. Feel free to reach out to the Uniform Closet if you would like to see if there are any uniform items in your child’s size before you purchase them through Dennis. Questions regarding the Uniform Closet may be directed to Darci Tauke at firstname.lastname@example.org.
SCHOOL FAMILY ONLINE DIRECTORY
We ask all Preschool through 8th grade new families to please visit sfxschool.membershiptoolkit.com and set up an account for your family. Once this is done through a computer or tablet please download the app to your phone.
K-8 uniforms are required on the St. Francis Xavier School Campus and may be purchased here through Dennis Uniform (please filter search results on this page by grade). Please note that an optional Jr K uniform is also provided by Dennis for families on the St. Joseph campus who find the ease of a uniform beneficial (or for little ones who are excited to wear one!). Find our current school year’s uniform policy here and a Dennis Uniform Guide here.
The opportunity to purchase supplies through Edukit has now passed, but K-8 families may purchase school supplies through any retailer and bring them to August 23rd classroom visits or the first day of school on August 25th. Please note that Preschool students (all students on the St. Joseph campus) do not require any school supplies prior to the start of the school year. Preschool families will receive a class list specific to their homeroom after the first day of school requesting a rotation/schedule of items to be delivered during the academic year. K-8 students must purchase school supplies prior to the first day of school. School supply lists by grade are available on the School Supplies page of the website.
MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS
Students joining us in grades 5-8 are invited to take part in team sports spanning football, cheer, cross country/track, basketball, volleyball and golf. Please contact our Athletic Director Jack McDonagh at email@example.com to confirm you will be signing up your child and fill out this pre-registration form.
BUS SERVICE – LATE REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Wilmette’s District 39 will again offer bus transportation during the 2021-2022 academic year to all families who live within District 39 boundaries. The cost to SFX families for one-way transportation per rider is $333; round trip service is $575. Learn more here through the District 39 site.
If you would like to register for bus transportation for your student for the fall, please download the Transportation Registration Form here. Print and complete this form and mail or hand-deliver payment by check for your total amount due to Wilmette Public Schools District 39, 615 Locust Road in Wilmette, 60091. After July 16th, a late fee is assessed on all bus registrations. Registrations received after this date will only be accepted if space is available on existing routes.
SUMMER READING + MATH RESOURCES
Rising 5th-8th grade students are assigned summer reading. All other students are encouraged to engage with our literacy resources for optional and enriching reading through the summer months ahead. A Summer Literacy Resources page is located here on the school’s website and includes some math suggestions as well for those seeking extra practice.
SCHOOL NEWS + INFORMATION
Updates and information regarding our schools are shared through the Newsblast. Your family will be added to our school news feed later this summer. In the meantime, all news and information will continue to flow to you through posts to this page, and via emails from firstname.lastname@example.org. Watch for regular updates through the summer months!
2021-2022 ANGEL RATE
Parents are asked to review a letter from school leadership here that outlines an opportunity for families to pay a new Angel Tuition Rate. This new, optional tuition rate covers the full cost to educate a student enrolled in our parish schools. Families interested in learning more about how they may enroll in this program with their tax deductible gift should email Joe D’Arco at email@example.com. Thank you!
REQUIRED MEDICAL FORMS
2021-2022 MEDICAL FORMS are required of ALL students. We ask that all families review this overview of health requirements for the 2021-2022 school year to best understand which items are required by grade. Please note that any additional health information and/or guidelines related to Covid-19 that may be shared this summer by the Archdiocese will be communicated to families as soon as our schools are notified.
Please take advantage of free time this summer to schedule any DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS your child will need in order to deliver state forms to the school office by August 15, 2021. All required forms can be found here on the Office Forms and Information page of the website. We regret that failure to submit required forms this fall will result in students’ exclusion from school until they are in compliance with state laws.
Colleen Barrett Halaburt, our School Principal, welcomed baby Molly Halaburt into the world this spring and is currently on maternity leave. Mrs. Halaburt has decided to devote next year to Molly, and as such, will not be returning as our Principal for the 2021-2022 academic year. Our remarkable Middle School Director, Christine Elliott, serves as Interim Principal this coming year, supported by Mia Montemurro as Assistant Principal. Amy Butterworth continues in her role as Early Childhood Director overseeing the St. Joseph Campus. Learn more here.
Class lists and teacher assignments are traditionally shared the day prior to the return to school. Watch for homeroom assignments to be shared via email early the week of August 23rd. Thank you!
