Kroll’s Farm was a blast! A special thank you to Mrs. Zeman for coordinating the trip for our little ones! A GIANT thank you to our chaperones who helped keep us happy and safe as we learned all about the animals, kinds of corn stalks, and farm life. Our hayride around the property was full of interesting information about growing gourds, pumpkins, and all of the instruments and homegoods made from these dried vegetables. The giant maze featured an active game to play! We searched for the special signs with numbers and letters and were so CORNFUSED on how to get back out!
Math In Focus-
As our little ones work so hard to wrap up our 0-10 number study, we will begin this week to order objects by size, length, and weight. We will be using vocabulary such as biggest, middle sized, and smallest. As your child helps you unload the groceries or clean up the toys on the floor, have them order the items from biggest to smallest!
Rhyme Time! We have been practicing our rhyming this past week with our Heggerty Phonemic Awareness lessons. These fast paced 10-12 minute lessons keep our Kindergarteners engaged and on their toes! Keep rhyming at home/in the car/on a walk. Look, listen, and use that ‘pointer power’ when you come across any rhyme!
This week your children learned that they can reread what they have written, realize they have more to say, then staple on more pages! Whether it be a show and tell item, a weekend story, or a place they’ve recently visited, we are asking that their writing show details and more information! We’ve seen so much eagerness to fill up all the pages in their books that we’re channeling this into a willingness to label more of their pictures, to represent more sounds in a word, and to make two-word labels.
This week is a BIG week in kindergarten with Halloween only a few days away!
We will attend mass in our communities on Friday for All Soul’s Day instead of Tuesday.
Thanks and have a great week!
IT’S GREAT BEING A KINDERGARTNER AT SFX!
